My Rating: 7.5
It's SO MUCH better than I expected. The 3rd one was totally disappointing. However, this one, hopefully the last one, can compete with the 1st and the 2nd one in many aspects.
The CGI was outstanding. Although most of the machines/robots were not newly created (they were in the previous 3 movies), they are perfectly embbeded in the scenes. Plus, there are some newly created aircrafts introduced, they looked cool.
Black, white, and red are the three theme colors of the movie. They created a very contradictony mood of both suppression and passion.
Christian Bale was a very persuasive John Connor (Note 1) although I didn't like him in The Prestige and Batman Begins. He behaved well as a leader with his deep voice and his body language.
Surprisingly, Bryce Dallas Howard is in this movie. She is a very flexible actress who can play many kinds of movies. I felt impressed with her acting as the innocent blind girl in The Village and, the fairy from the fairytale in Lady In the Water. Then she appeared as the blonde beauty that almost stole(?) Spiderman's heart in the Spiderman 3. This time she gets rounder and more mature as a pregnant medical expert Mrs. Connor. She is very flexible, in my opinion.
Note 1: I forgot where I got this idea... But somebody mentioned that as the leading actor in both Batman: The Dark Knight and Terminator Salvation, Christian Bale's best dedication is to make the supporting actors, The Joker (Heath Ledger) and Marcus /The first T-800's (Sam Worthington) performance stand out. So cruel... but it's quite true. I think Christian Bale looks too plain, and for whatever reason, his lines and roles are not so attractive comparing to the villain or the counterpart. However, who cares about John Connor and who'd ever cared about him in the Terminator Series? The Teminators/Robots themselves are what we would pay for and scream at and excite for in the theather. So, from this viewpoint, Christian Bale is a successful we-know-who-you-are-but-we-don't-care-what-you-do leading actor. :-)
